A clean, open bathroom built around a walk-in wet deck shower
Southwick, West Sussex
This bathroom was all about creating a clean, open space without compromising on comfort or practicality. The client chose to do away with a bath altogether and instead go for a generous walk-in wet deck shower — something we’re seeing more and more of now.
We used a mixture of different tile finishes to give the room plenty of character, alongside a wall-hung vanity and WC to keep everything feeling open. The concealed WC frame and plumbing were cleverly housed within a cupboard on the adjacent landing, meaning there are virtually no pipes or unnecessary boxing on show.
One of the more unusual features was the heating. As well as full underfloor heating, we installed a separate heated wall circuit, creating a warm wall for drying towels and removing the need for a traditional towel radiator. It’s a great option when you want to keep the room as uncluttered as possible.
We also incorporated concealed mirrored storage and a smart shower system, allowing the client to control the shower remotely if required. The existing skylight provides fantastic natural light, which really brings all the different textures and finishes together.
A lot of thought went into what looks like a very simple bathroom — and that’s exactly how we like it.
